Tags, Seasons, Teams & Organization
GoldenBoot provides several tools to organize your matches, players, and data. Tags, seasons, teams, and fields help you filter and report on exactly what matters.
Competition Levels
Competition levels categorize your matches by level of play:
- Varsity
- JV (Junior Varsity)
- Freshman
- Custom levels you create
Each match can have one competition level assigned. The level badge displays on match cards in your match list.
Assigning a Competition Level
- When creating or editing a match, tap Competition Level
- Select from existing levels or create a new one
- The level appears as a badge on the match card
Match Labels
Labels are flexible tags you can apply to matches for custom categorization:
- Tournament
- Rivalry
- Home / Away
- Any custom label you create
Each match can have multiple labels. Use them to filter and organize your season however works best for you.
Player Tags
Player tags let you group players by any criteria:
- Starting XI
- Captain
- U15 / U17
- Defenders / Midfielders / Forwards
- Any custom grouping
Tags display as colored badges on player cards in your roster.
Customizing Tags
Each tag can be customized with:
- Name — The tag label
- Color — Choose a hex color for the badge
- Icon — Select an SF Symbol icon
Creating a Tag
- Go to any tag picker (in match creation or player editing)
- Tap Create New Tag
- Enter the name, pick a color and icon
- Tap Save
Tags are shared across your entire team — create them once and reuse everywhere.
Managing Tags
Go to Settings → Manage Tags to view, edit, or delete your tags.
Seasons (Premium)
Seasons let you group matches by time period:
- Create seasons like “Fall 2025”, “Spring 2026”
- Assign matches to a season when creating or editing
- Filter reports by season for focused analysis
- Manage seasons in Settings → Manage Seasons
Teams (Premium)
If you coach multiple teams, use team management to organize:
- Create separate teams (e.g., “Varsity”, “JV”, “U15 Travel”)
- Assign players to teams
- Manage teams in Settings → Manage Teams
My Fields (Premium)
Save field locations you use regularly:
- Add fields with name and location
- Select from your saved fields when creating a match
- No need to re-type field names each time
- Manage fields in Settings → My Fields
