General

Does the app work offline?

Yes! GoldenBoot works completely offline. All data is stored locally on your device, so you can track statistics anytime, anywhere — no internet required during matches.

Is my data backed up automatically?

Yes. With a Premium subscription, iCloud sync keeps your data backed up and synced across all your devices automatically. You can also create manual backup files at any time. The app reminds you every 30 days to back up.

Can I use GoldenBoot on multiple devices?

Yes! With iCloud sync (Premium), your players, matches, opponents, and all statistics sync automatically across all your iOS devices. Start tracking on your iPhone at the field and review reports on your iPad at home.

Players & Rosters

How many players can I add?

Can I import players from a spreadsheet?

Yes. GoldenBoot supports batch player import from CSV and text files. Go to Settings → Import Players. You can import names, jersey numbers, positions, grades, and tags all at once. See Player Management for details.

Can I track multiple teams or seasons?

Yes. With Premium, you can create multiple teams and seasons to organize your matches. Filter reports by season or team to view specific breakdowns.

Matches & Statistics

Can I edit match statistics after they're saved?

Yes, you can always go back and edit match data. Select the match from your matches list and tap Edit to make changes.

What statistics can I track?

GoldenBoot tracks goals, assists, shots, shots on target, corner kicks, free kicks, penalty kicks, offsides, cards, minutes played, and more. Goalkeepers have additional stats like saves, clean sheets, and distribution. You can also track opponent set pieces.

How are averages and percentages calculated?

All computed stats update automatically when you enter match data.

Reports

How do I share reports with parents or coaches?

Generate a PDF report from the Reports tab and use the share button to send via email, Messages, AirDrop, or any other sharing method. Reports are professionally formatted and ready to distribute.

What report types are available?

Player Statistics, Match Summary, Goalkeeper, Set Piece, Season Summary, Recent Form, and Start Rate reports. Match Summary reports can optionally include the Game Log. See Reports & PDF Export for details.

Subscription

What's included in the free version?

22 players, 5 opponents, 10 matches, full statistics tracking, PDF reports, and manual backup. See Free vs Premium for the full comparison.

What does Premium add?

Unlimited players, opponents, and matches. Plus: iCloud sync, Touchline Mode, seasons, teams, tags, saved fields, CSV player import, game events, and match notes.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through Apple. Go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → GoldenBoot Premium → Cancel.

Touchline — Live Match Tracking

What is Touchline?

Touchline is GoldenBoot's built-in live match tracking mode (Premium). Use it on the sideline during matches to track playing time, substitutions, game events, and real-time statistics. See Touchline Overview for full details.

Do I need Premium to use Touchline?

Yes. Touchline Mode is a Premium feature. It includes live match tracking, game events, match notes, saving, and PDF match reports.

Does Touchline work on iPhone?

Yes. Touchline works on both iPhone and iPad in portrait or landscape orientation.

Does Touchline work offline?

Yes! All tracking happens locally. No internet connection is required during the match.

What happens if I close the app during a match?

Touchline match data exists in memory while tracking. You must save the match before closing the app, or the data will be lost.

Can I pause the game clock?

Yes. Tap Pause at any time. All player timers pause as well. Tap Resume to continue.

Can I make multiple substitutions at once?

Yes. Tap IN on multiple bench players to queue them, then tap OUT on the players being replaced. See Substitutions for details.

Does minutes played track automatically?

Yes. Playing time starts when a player goes on the field and stops when they come off. It only accumulates while the game clock is running.

What are Game Events?

Game events let you log custom occurrences during a match — water breaks, referee discussions, camera reviews, injury timeouts, and more. Each event is timestamped to the match clock and appears in the Game Log and PDF reports. You can customize your event list in Settings → Game Events.

Can I take notes during a match?

Yes. Tap Notes in the Touchline HUD to open a text editor. Notes save automatically and are stored with the match. View them later in Match Detail.
