====== Search ======

The Search tab is the primary way to find drugs in the NDC database. It supports full-text search with autocomplete suggestions and inline filters.

===== How to Search =====

  - Tap the **Search** tab
  - Type your query in the search bar at the top
  - Results appear as you type, or press **Search** on the keyboard to execute
  - Tap any result to view the full [[ndc-lookup:product-detail|product detail]]

===== What You Can Search For =====

  * **Drug name** — Brand name (e.g., "Lipitor") or generic name (e.g., "atorvastatin")
  * **NDC code** — Product NDC or package NDC in any format (e.g., "0071-0155" or "00071015510")
  * **Ingredient** — Active ingredient name (e.g., "acetaminophen")
  * **Labeler** — Manufacturer or distributor name (e.g., "Pfizer")
  * **Internal ID** — Type "ID:12345" to look up a product by its internal database row ID

===== Autocomplete Suggestions =====

As you type, the app shows autocomplete suggestions based on matching drug names in the database. Tap a suggestion to search for it.

===== Filters =====

Filter chips are displayed below the search bar for quick filtering:

  * **Dosage Form** — Tablet, capsule, injection, etc.
  * **Route** — Oral, topical, intravenous, etc.
  * **DEA Schedule** — Schedule I through V controlled substances
  * **Marketing Category** — NDA, ANDA, OTC monograph, etc.

Tap a filter chip to select a value. The search re-runs immediately. Tap the **X** on an active filter to clear it.

For additional filters (container type, package level), tap the filter icon in the toolbar to open the full filter sheet.

===== Results =====

Search results show:
  * **Brand name** (Title Case) and generic name (lowercase)
  * **Product NDC**
  * **Dosage form** and **route** tags
  * **DEA schedule** badge (if applicable)

The total result count is displayed at the top of the results list. Results are paginated — scroll to load more.

===== Recent Searches =====

When the search bar is empty, your recent searches appear for quick access. Tap a recent search to re-run it. Use the **Clear** button to remove your search history.

===== Reset =====

Tap the **X** button in the toolbar to clear the search query, results, and all active filters.

===== Export Results =====

When results are displayed, tap the **share** icon in the toolbar to export all matching results as CSV or JSON. See [[ndc-lookup:export|Export & Sharing]] for details.
