====== Backup, Restore & iCloud Sync ======

Your data is valuable. GoldenBoot provides multiple ways to keep it safe — automatic iCloud sync, manual backups, and data export.

===== iCloud Sync =====

GoldenBoot automatically syncs your data across all your devices via iCloud.

  * Your players, matches, opponents, tags, and all statistics sync seamlessly
  * Start entering stats on your iPhone at the field, review reports on your iPad at home
  * Sync happens automatically in the background — no manual steps required
  * Requires iCloud to be enabled on your device (Settings → Apple ID → iCloud)

**Important:**
iCloud sync is a Premium feature. Free tier users can use manual backup and restore.


===== Creating a Backup =====

  - Go to **Settings → Backup & Restore**
  - Tap **Create Backup**
  - A backup file (JSON format) is created
  - Use the share sheet to save it:
    * Save to **Files** app
    * Send via **Email** or **AirDrop**
    * Upload to **iCloud Drive**, **Google Drive**, etc.

===== Restoring from Backup =====

  - Go to **Settings → Backup & Restore**
  - Tap **Restore Backup**
  - Select your backup file
  - Confirm the restore
  - All data will be restored from the backup

**Important:**
Restoring will replace your current data with the backup contents. Always verify you have the correct backup before restoring.


===== Backup Reminders =====

GoldenBoot reminds you to back up every **30 days**. When the reminder appears:

  - Tap **Back Up Now** to create a backup
  - Or dismiss to be reminded later

===== Files App Integration =====

GoldenBoot backup files are accessible directly from the iOS Files app:

  * Open **Files** on your iPhone or iPad
  * Navigate to **On My iPhone → GoldenBoot**
  * Your backup files are stored here
  * Copy, move, or share them directly from the Files app

===== CSV Export =====

Export your data as CSV files for use in spreadsheets:

  - Go to **Settings → Advanced → Export**
  - Choose **CSV** format
  - The file can be opened in Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet application
  - Share via email, AirDrop, or save to Files

===== Data Storage =====

  * All data is stored on your device and synced via iCloud (if enabled)
  * GoldenBoot works **completely offline** — no internet required during matches
  * A pre-migration safety backup is created automatically before database updates

**Tip:**
Even with iCloud sync, keep at least one recent manual backup saved to a cloud service (iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox) so your stats are safe under any circumstances.
